Accomplishments & Priorities

As a City Councilmember, I listen to our community and then take action. My priorities include:

Infrastructure and Park Improvements

Budgeted $60 million in sewer improvements and $44 million in street paving improvements to be implemented from 2025-2030
Upgraded parks with new turf at Highlands Park, new lights at Burton and Highlands Parks, a new track at Crestview Park, eight automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and new open space trail connections
Approved the Parks Master Plan which will guide future improvements to our parks, open space, and recreation facilities
Collaborated with community groups and regional agencies to advance short-, mid- and long-term bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements at the U.S. 101/Holly Street interchange
Continued implementation of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan and the Traffic Signal Master Plan to improve traffic flow and keep pedestrians and cyclists safe
Completed three phases of the San Carlos Avenue Pedestrian Safety Improvements Project, improving bicycle lanes and adding sidewalks along one of our busiest thoroughfares

Successfully completed construction of the new Fire Station 16
Supported Gun Buyback Initiatives and a Firearm Safe Storage Ordinance
Partnered with the City of Belmont to upgrade emergency vehicle access at Hallmark Drive and Crestview Drive to address wildfire concerns
Approved a Downtown Services Deputy dedicated to serving safety needs along Laurel Street
Maintained rapid response times for San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department

Safe Routes to School: Reduced the speed limit to 15 mph around school zones, improved sidewalk and crosswalk infrastructure, including a new crossing at Arroyo and Chestnut for students to safely access Burton Park, and fully funded the crossing guard program during school hours
Childcare: Created more than 150 new childcare spaces since 2024 by cutting fees, streamlining permits, and establishing a Child Care Development Impact Fee that funded provider expansion grants
Member of the 2+2 Committee which brings together two City Councilmembers, two School Board members, and staff from the City and School District to collaborate on areas of mutual interest
Launched the SPEAK UP Program in San Carlos in partnership with Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse (CORA), an outreach effort that educated more than 100 small business owners, employees and community members to recognize the red flags of intimate partner abuse
Prioritized mental health by spearheading the San Mateo County Mayors Mental Health Initiative. Secured funding from the County Board of Supervisors to roll out Mental Health First Aid trainings in San Carlos. Created a Mental Health Community Resource Guide mailed to all residents

Completed multi-year planning efforts including the East Side Innovation District Vision Plan and the Northeast Area Specific Plan. These plans reflect our community’s priorities for improvements and investment over the next twenty years

Expanded the parklet program and pedestrianized a block of Laurel Street. Collaborated with our community to develop and approve the Downtown Streetscape Master Plan and the Downtown Specific Plan that will guide future improvements to our downtown
Advocated for more workforce housing, including the approval of Cherry Street Commons
